About me:

My name is Mariana Portela Echeverri and I’m a multidisciplinary artist that graduated in Fine Arts by the University of Barcelona, 2009.

I was born in Paris, my father is Colombian and my mother Portuguese; I grew up in Portugal, lived in Barcelona for 5 years and I’m currently based in London. I am international, multi-cultural and always interested in exploring and stretching all kinds of boundaries.

My work varies from installation, video, photography, illustration and live art and has been shown in diverse places such as Volte Gallery (Mumbay), Hangar and Loop Festival (both in Barcelona).

Apart from solo projects, I’ve always been very interested in collaborative work. During my student period in Barcelona I got involved with different art collectives exploring concepts of sexuality, post-porn, gender and queer theories.

I moved to London in 2010 and I’ve been working on several personal and collaborative projects since.

I’m extremely interested in exploring concepts of process and transformation of the self and its surroundings through a slightly surrealistic lens.

I am currently working on a moving image project, a new series of digital collages and the creation of an art collective along with film director Lola Clavo.
